The legal environment in which businesses find themselves is unavoidably complex and it is essential to have an experienced lawyer navigate through the myriad rules and regulations that seemingly affect nearly every commercial transaction and arrangement.
Each member of the Commercial team is required by law to undertake at least ten hours of compulsory additional legal training every year and in addition all Solicitors in the firm meet monthly to share experience and to discuss matters.
Where the subject of a commercial matter is beyond the experience level of any particular lawyer then the resources of the firm can be brought to bear at an appropriate level. If necessary, external consultants can be engaged to advise on specialist areas such as tax, superannuation and investment and our lawyers are trained to recognise when this outsourcing is required.
It is our goal to offer sophisticated legal advice in a suburban environment and to ensure clients are comfortable that regardless of the subject matter or complexity of the matter at hand we can either deal with it inhouse or draw on a wide range of qualified and specialist external consultants with whom we regularly work.
As with all areas of legal work it is essential to engage a lawyer at the earliest time possible as the legal experience brought to bear can not only assist in assuring many common pitfalls are avoided but can also assist in the tactical approach taken to negotiation and avoid unnecessary excursion down dry gulleys.
We encourage clients to discuss the cost of legal services at the commencement of matters so that an approach can be taken which minimises unnecessary expense and ensure the most efficient approach is taken.
We can often give a range of costs associated with a particular transaction but since our legal fees are based on legal time spent it is not always possible to be exact because the path that a commercial negotiation takes depends largely upon the commercial environment in which it is occurring, and the needs and demands of other parties to the transactions.
We keep a direct record of time spent by each lawyer on clients' matters and this can be accessed by the client at any time to establish what their exposure to legal costs is.
MDRN's overall approach is that the lawyer is a part of the team being brought to bear on a transaction by a client. That team includes the client as its leader, the client's other advisers such as accountants, financial planners etc. If the client does not have access to the appropriate professionals we can refer them to professionals who in our experience are able to add value to the transaction and clarify appropriate issues quickly.
MDRN is outcome orientated so that the most important objective is to achieve the client's stated goals quickly and at the most efficient cost whilst avoiding pitfalls and unexpected problems.
MDRN is part of your team in business.
