Kathy is a new consultant to MDL and has many years of experience in negotiating complex commercial transactions with a particular emphasis on the protection, commercialisation, exploitation or licensing of intellectual property. Prior to MDL, Kathy was a partner in a national firm, a special counsel at Minter Ellison in Sydney and a partner in a UK firm.
Kathy has considerable experience in brand and trade mark protection and exploitation, IP commercialisation collaborations, IP licensing deals, forming and negotiating joint ventures and software licensing. Before re-qualifying as a lawyer, Kathy worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a clinical research associate which has helped shape her commercial and practical approach to legal issues.
Kathy also practices in general commercial law, including franchising arrangements, data privacy (including the impact of cloud computing), joint ventures, distribution, supply and procurement agreements, business and company sales and purchases and partnership and shareholders' arrangements. She is currently admitted to practice in Queensland, New South Wales, England and Wales.
