Alison is an experienced litigation (dispute) solicitor, having been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria more than 20 years ago. Alison has been admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Queensland Supreme Court and High Court of Australia since 1989.
Although Alison has experience in most facets of disputes, including Personal Injuries, Crime and general litigation, her focus these days is in Family Law where she practises almost exclusively. Wherever possible Alison endeavours to settle cases without the need for court intervention. If however this is not possible then Alison attends at the Family Court and Federal Magistrates Court to argue cases for clients in matters of Residence (custody, Contact (access), Property Settlements, Divorce and Financial Maintenance. Alison was directly involved in the extremely important case in the Family Court of W. and G. in 2005 which argued the issue of whether a parent's biological connection with their child necessarily entitled that parent to spend time ("access") with the child.
Alison has previously been involved with Rotary International's Professional Women's' Exchange. She was the principal solicitor with local firm Dianne Edwards Solicitors, but when that law firm was taken over by MDRN Solicitors in 2006 Alison became MDRN's leading Family Law practitioner.
